Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information joshuatberglan.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to describe what this site actually does — not a generic template.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by Joshua T. Berglan, trading as The World’s Mayor Experience (“we”, “us”). The legal entity responsible is [[LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g. "Joshua T. Editorial work is produced from Cameroon. Your information may therefore be processed in Cameroon, the United States, and wherever our service providers operate.

We never see or store your card details. Financial contributions made through this site are processed by Google under Reader Revenue Manager, and donations to the Cameroon mission are processed by GoFundMe on its own platform. We receive confirmation that a contribution was made, along with the name and email address you chose to share.
Why we are allowed to use your information
- Your consent — for the newsletter, and for non-essential cookies where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, understand which reporting is read, and improve it.
- Contract — to deliver something you asked for, such as a booked call or a contribution receipt.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain records, for example for tax.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Contact and booking correspondence: up to 24 months, unless an ongoing matter requires longer.
- Analytics: per the retention period set in Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, typically 14 months or less.
- Financial records: as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a given purpose. Email joshua@joshuatberglan.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to processing, to request portability, and to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
Cookies
This site uses cookies and similar storage for analytics and for embedded content such as video players. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings; essential parts of the site will still work, but embedded video and some conveniences may not.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Some of the writing on this site deals frankly with addiction, abuse, mental illness and recovery, and is intended for adult readers. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Sources and reporting
If you contact us as a source for an investigation, we treat your identity as confidential to the fullest extent permitted by law, and we will not publish identifying details without your agreement. Email is not a secure channel — if you need to share something sensitive, say so first and we will arrange a safer method.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS with HSTS. No website can promise perfect security, and we do not. If you believe your information has been exposed, contact us immediately.
Changes
When this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects you directly, say so in the newsletter.
