The Power of WE: A Visionary Conversation with Dr. Loren Michaels-Harris & Joshua T. Berglan
Bathrobe Moments with Dr. Loren Michaels-Harris & Joshua T. Berglan
Bathrobe Moments: Dr. Loren Michaels-Harris & Joshua T. Berglan
In a recent episode of Bathrobe Moments
, Dr. Loren Michaels-Harris invited me, Joshua T. Berglan, to join him for an insightful and deeply meaningful conversation. Dr. Loren, with his unparalleled ability to ask thoughtful and probing questions, created the perfect environment for us to delve into topics that are close to my heart—and, I believe, vital for the future of leadership and community empowerment.
We began by revisiting how our paths first crossed and the serendipitous connection that brought us together. Sharing our personal journeys of overcoming adversity underscored a common thread: the unwavering belief in the transformative power of vision and purpose. Dr. Loren's own story is a testament to resilience and the ability to inspire change, which made discussing my journey to becoming The World’s Mayor
even more profound.
The Power of WE
One of the central themes of our conversation was the Power of WE
initiative—a movement focused on collective action and the power of unity to uplift underserved communities. We explored how this philosophy aligns with the work I’m doing through the Bridge Media Empowerment Centers
and The World’s Mayor Experience. These initiatives aim to equip individuals with the tools and skills needed to not only share their stories but also transform their narratives into meaningful change for themselves and their communities.
Media Literacy and Empowerment
Dr. Loren and I also highlighted the importance of media literacy—a concept that goes beyond deciphering real from fake news. It encompasses understanding how to use media as a tool for advocacy, storytelling, and creating sustainable revenue streams. This is particularly crucial for empowering inner-city youth, who often face systemic barriers that hinder their ability to reach their full potential. By providing access to media training and resources, we can inspire a new generation of leaders and changemakers.
Leadership and Community Service
Leadership and community service were recurring motifs in our dialogue. Both Dr. Loren and I believe that true leadership isn’t about self-promotion but about elevating others. The transformative power of media plays a pivotal role in this—not just as a platform for voices to be heard, but as a catalyst for actionable change in underserved areas like Chicago’s inner city.
Reflecting on our conversation, I am reminded of the immense value of platforms like Bathrobe Moments. Dr. Loren’s ability to foster authentic and impactful discussions creates a space where ideas can flourish and inspire action. Being his guest was both an honor and a privilege, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share my perspectives with his audience.
As we move forward, I encourage everyone to embrace the spirit of the Power of WE. Together, we have the ability to create meaningful change, amplify unheard voices, and empower communities through leadership, media, and service. Thank you, Dr. Loren Michaels-Harris, for your leadership, your platform, and your unwavering dedication to uplifting others.
